The Green, Green Valley was inspired by the Irish immigrants who came to
the Ottawa Valley and settled there in places like Low, Brennen's Hill....
Later the Irish came in another wave, to build what has become a World
Heritage Site...the incomparable Rideau Canal. Their struggle and hardships
are immortalized in The Rideau Canal Song.
They brought their traditional songs with them as well, like the Mountains of
Mourne and The Lovely Rose of Clare which are included on this CD.
Robin wanted to sing some of the songs made famous in the early part of this
century....songs that were written about the Irish on this side of the Atlantic like
When Irish Eyes are Smiling and McNamara's Band!
